You can't control the weather
There's a mountain peak you've been wanting to go.
But going there requires leaving your house, leaving your safe space.
You'll be alright if you don't go.
The mountain peak was just curiosity.
The house is safe, you know exactly what you're going to get.
The safe shelter of your four walls, the warmth of your blankets.
But.
The mountain peak.
There's this voice in you,
wanting to come out and experience the unknown.
You say to you yourself,
"I was built - even if just metaphorically - to explore. And not doing so troubles me".
You can shut that voice,
until there is no desire to do anything at all.
It's wild and scary out there, and you don't know what you're going to get.
Yes.
That's it.
The safety of the indoors over the unknown of the outdoors.
So, is that it?
Either the comfort of the house, or the vast unknowns of the outside?
No.
Recognize there's a voice.
Feel the longing for whatever it is from within.
Learn about that journey you want to make.
Gain skills to combat the weather.
Learn to build a hammock under dense trees.
Read all books on safe to eat berries and foliage.
Speak with other humans on their experience.
On how they reached the top of the mountain peak.
You can't control the weather.
But you can:
first, live true to inner desires,
last, learn skills to keep the unknown in check.
-
Every journey - learning the drums, doing MMA, speaking to an audience - literally everything your inner voice asks to do is that metaphorical mountain.
The only thing in your control is feeling where your body wants to take you, and learning skills to help you along the way.
